The Sentimental Journey Big Band
THE SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY BIG BAND - was successfully organized by its trumpet-playing leader Frank Richetti, with the underlying theme of recreating the excitement of the BIG BAND sounds of the glory days of big band music in the 1930’s and 1940’s. In 1991 when Frank Richetti formed the band, he was able to gather together those musicians living in Ocean County area of New Jersey, who were the very same musicians who had been a part of these great bands of the 1940’s, including Count Basie, Artie Shaw, Glenn Miller, Harry James, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey and more. These were the men who had recorded the many record hits of the past that we regard today as the standards of the past. Today, many of those original members of the band have passed on and have been replaced with their protégés who are here to entertain us today.
